Arts Education

The arts can be a powerful force in the lives of children who struggle to read, write and do math because of their learning differences. Students discover new talents, find creative forms of expression and gain self-confidence through the arts.
The Frostig School West arts program incorporates Music, Visual Art, and Theatre Arts to create a multidisciplinary curriculum that supports every student’s academic social and emotional development.
The Music program incorporates instruments and music theory lessons, as well as computer programs to give students the opportunity to play piano, read music, and produce their own tracks.
The Visual Art program focuses on art therapy, where students can express and process emotions through creating tangible works of art, as well as building mindfulness through using drawing as a relaxation technique.
The Theatre Arts program has created stage productions such as The Wizard of Oz to give students the chance to shine on stage and practice their oratory and communication skills.
The arts are especially important to our population of students because they support and inform the skills they learn in the academic and social settings here at Frostig School West!
